Here are a few very general questions you should be able to answer before you decide to launch your own porn site:
*How much money do you a) need to make monthly and b) WANT to make monthly six months after launch, one year after launch, and five years down the road (and are you willing to commit to it for that long)?
*What do you know about promoting porn sites and getting traffic? What do you know about photography? Video processing? Webcams & chat? Site-building? Blogging? Social networking? Analyzing statistics? What things do you want to do yourself, and what do you want other people to do for you? Can you *afford* to pay other people to do them? How much money do you have to invest in building your site, creating content, buying equipment, etc. at the beginning and on a continuing basis?
*What kind of porn do you want to make? Is there a particular niche (or niches) you are well-placed to specialize in? How much interaction do you want to or plan to have with your members? Do you want to and can you do live shows and/or broadcast life cams? How many hours per week?
*How much time can you invest in working on your site each week? How many months/years can you sustain that level of commitment?
*What sites (or movies, books, people, etc.) inspired you to want your own site? In what ways do you want your site to be similar or different?
*What is your name and/or persona? Is it easy to remember, spell and pronounce? HAVE YOU GOOGLED IT TO SEE IF IT’S ALREADY IN USE BY ANOTHER PORN PERSON (if so, PICK SOMETHING ELSE)? Is there a good domain name available (a .com) incorporating your name? Have you registered it with a privacy shield and set it to auto-renew?
*Are you ready to launch your site now? For a well-rounded site similar to ours, I would recommend a minimum of this much content to start:
- 20 picture sets (between 25 and 200 pics each, at least 1200 pixels on the long side)
- 10 videos (between 3 and 20 minutes each, NO MUSIC USED WITHOUT PERMISSION/proper license)
- added personality: stories, blog entries, voice recordings, youtube-style chatty tease videos, etc.
- live content: the ability to do four hours or more of webcam shows or chat each month
- the ability to add new pictures and/or videos on a regular basis, preferably once or twice a week
If you’re strong in one area but not another, that can be fine, and of course there are many creative ways to structure your site or you might want to specialize in JUST webcams or JUST stories or JUST photos. There is something to be said, though, for being able to meet and exceed standardized expectations, and there are more promotional opportunities for your site when you do.
